Traditional scouring pads are often made with a toxic chemicals and pesticides, including triclosan, which can cause health issues and destroys fragile ecosystems. It's an anti-bacterial agent that is classified as highly toxic to aquatic organisms such as algae and fish.
In addition, plastic microfibers regularly fray from scouring pads and enter our oceans and water systems. More than you would think, it’s one of the reasons humans consume a credit card worth of plastic every week, and why there are 500x more microplastics in the ocean than stars in the galaxy.
Conventional scouring pads are also just made out of plastic, meaning they are petroleum based. 12 million barrels of oil are used every year to create plastic products like these.
Did the job.
These are wonderful. Had something similar to these from a major brand and these are superior. Removes stuck on debris without damaging the item. The different corners are perfect for getting into small curves and areas pots and pans.
My daughter has had one of these little tools for many years. I have always wanted one as they are so handy for getting things like cooked on scrambled eggs and things that goo up your scrubby pad but I would forget about it until I used hers again.. I finally ordered some for myself. I'm giving a couple away to cooking friends. They would be great little stocking stuffers too. These really are a great kitchen tool for scraping pans and plates.
I purchased these bamboo scrapers to replace my old plastic ones from pampered chef - I have only used one so far, and it hasn't shown any signs of wear. I gave my sister one, and have two left for back up/more gifts. The oils I end up scraping off my pots get soaked into the bamboo, so the current one has a very nice sheen now. I love to have things in my kitchen that look cool and work well!
I actually made a whole YT video on a review for this item I really love these, i've been able to use it with my arts and crafts as well! I love how they do not scratch my pots & pans, i've had my original first bought scraper and it still gets the job done, barely starting to get a little moldy but that's because I'm not the best about caring for them, I just use it, rinse it and leave it on the sink. I like to push it's durability, and I am not disappointed with this little tool.
