The home care industry generates more than 29 billion plastic containers every single year! Yet at one point we never used any plastic for our soaps. Can we get it back to how it was before?
Some reasons we love bar soaps so much is that:
On average, the production of liquid soap requires 5x times more energy for raw material, has a 10x bigger carbon footprint, and uses almost 20x more energy for packaging production than traditional bar soaps.
liquid soap contributes to much more ecotoxicity, ozone depletion, and eutrophication potential than bar soaps
These bar soaps aren't petroleum-based, which is common for liquid soaps.
Most liquid soaps contain palm-oil. Palm oil is one of the major drivers of deforestation, destroying some of the worlds most diverse forests, and destroying the habitat of several already endangered species.
About Ecoliving
Jo started Ecoliving in 2014 after refusing to accept that waste is an inevitable consequence of how we consume products.
With a firm belief that there is almost always an eco-friendly option that is comparable in price, better in quality, and that doesn’t come at the expense of the planet, she started her own zero waste store.
Now, EcoLiving...
