Around 5,000 tons of sunscreen enter our oceans annually, and because it can be toxic to aquatic organisms in even low concentrations, it’s one of the reasons scientists expect 70-90% of coral reefs to disappear in the next 20 years.
That's why we swear by Little Hands Hawaii - Hawaii's only locally made, plastic-free sunscreen approved by the FDA. LHH was started as a mom and pop shop in Maui with a mission to create better alternatives to what was available. And their Hawaiian values and respect for the environment is echoed in every batch made.
Their 1oz stick is perfect for either a sunny hike, or a swim at the beach. Available in both white and tinted (tinted with iron oxide minerals), and packaged in a sturdy, biodegradable push-up stick.
With a recent peer reviewed study discovering that 78 common sunscreens were found to have carcinogens in them (including SunBum, Banana Boat, and Neutrogena), using safe and natural sunscreen now is as important as ever.
*This is a mineral sunscreen, meaning that it doesn't absorb into your skin like conventional sunscreen does. Rather, it sits on your skin and reflects UV instead of absorbing it.*
Active ingredient: Non-Nano Zinc Oxide
Inactive: Organic Coconut Oil, Organic Jojoba Oil, Shea Butter, Local Beeswax, Sunflower Wax, Vitamin E Oil, Elderberry and Frankincense Essential Oil.
Little Hands Hawaii story began with the birth of Michael and Rosalyn's first daughter in 2011. Rosalyn was standing in a health store reading all the “natural” sunscreen labels and wondering why she couldn’t pronounce half the ingredients. This began her research on sunscreen ingredients she soon realized they weren’t so natural after all; they were actually toxic!
Little Hands Sunscreen not only respects the ocean but it perpetuates Hawai’i values for your entire Ohana. They take pride in their responsible plastic free packaging, soy ink labels, and recycled, compostable packaging.
The sunscreen is made by Hawaiians and the values are echoed in every batch made.
Around 5,000 tons of sunscreen enter our oceans annually, that’s the weight of 78 humpback whales! Because sunscreen can be toxic to aquatic organisms in low concentrations, it’s one of the reasons scientists expect 70-90% of all coral reefs to disappear within the next 20 years.
Knowing that plastic waste is expected to almost TRIPLE by 2060, choosing a plastic free sunscreen is one small thing we can do to help be a part of the solution.
I am beyond happy with this product and have run back to order more. My skin is very picky and I've never found a sunscreen (eco-friendly or not) that doesn't make my face greasy within 30 mins of applying. The texture, application, and scent of this product all feel very high quality. There is a white cast, but you can blend it out some and then I just dust some bronzer over it to help even more. I am going to try the tinted version next so hopefully that will make the white cast completely invisible, but I don't even care how it looks because I'm so happy with how much my skin likes it.
I have been looking for a natural sunscreen product that doesn’t feel greasy or too dry. This product goes on smoothly & makes my skin look dewy & evens out my tone nicely! These are going to be stocking stuffers for my family!
Amazing sunscreen and easy to apply and blend out
Very smooth and easy application and does not leave a white cast. 10/10 would reccomend
It protects my face extremely well when I'm at the beach and applies so easily! I really love how there's no icky feeling that I get from mainstream sunscreen products.
